Diversity addresses the variety of people and ideas at our school. The wealth of knowledge comes from our backgrounds and identities.
Equity involves the elimination of systemic barriers to ensure that everyone has fair access, opportunity, and voice at our school.
Inclusion creates an environment that welcomes, values, and connects everyone on our team.
Here are some of the initiatives that we have implemented at our school and that have shown impact on our team.
Professional development to help teachers tie DEI with providing college access.
Presentations to families to communicate and instill the goals & expectations of DEI.
A system to ensure that everyone on our team follows our DEI priorities.
The role of the Director of DEI is to develop, implement, and monitor initiatives to promote DEI within Equipo Academy and among our team. The director also leads a committee of teachers that help organize events and instill DEI in all of our work.
A diverse group of teachers — from different backgrounds and subject areas — who are dedicated in ensuring that DEI is in everything that we do at Equipo Academy. The cohort works closely with the Director of DEI.
