A Campus Built for Great Teachers

Great schools are defined by great teachers. So we have worked hard to hire a team and family of incredible educators and we have built an incredible place for them to work.

1. A Best Place to Teach We provide teachers with the autonomy to design and deliver their best instruction, along with the coaching and tailored professional development they need to keep getting better. Teachers have two preps a day and a collaborative environment to make the challenging job of teaching a more sustainable career. We offer a multitude of leadership opportunities for teachers to become campus leaders and career master teachers. 8th grade reading teacher, Cara Fergiels, who has been with Equipo for six years, stays because of the “investment administration has in supporting staff” and “seeking input” from staff on decisions that affect their work.

2. A Small School with a Community Feel With less than 1000 students across grades 6-12, Equipo gives teachers a chance to really get to know their students and families. Each teacher acts as an advisor for a small group of 20 students. “I have been here 8 years and have taught whole families; it really feels like I am part of a community,” says 12th-grade English teacher Corey Wozniak.

3. A Focused Vision Our mission is to empower future first generation college students to meet high expectations, excel to and through college, and become transformational leaders within their community. Equipo is proof point in the valley that all students can go to college, regardless of academic and behavioral backgrounds. Our last seven graduating classes have received 100% acceptance into a college or university by the end of their senior year. Equipo Founding Math teacher, Justine Oakes came to Equipo because “the school and I shared their same vision of what education can be like” and stayed because “we are doing good work in East Las Vegas.”
